Crystalled Bullets, Alpha demo has been released!


The first demo is available now! Thank you for showing interest in my game, Crystalled Bullets!

The current demo (version 0.32, late-alpha state) features 30-40 minutes of content of the first chapter. including a combat scenario between cave monsters and human soldiers, and a few voiced story scenes. It’s a little bit short demo, but I hope you have a good time with it.

To launch the game, open the .bat(for Windows)/.sh(for Linux with Wine) file depending on your language configuration.

Once you’re entered into the game, consider changing graphics settings through “Option -> Graphics Options” -> “Graphics Presets” depending on your PC’s hardware configuration. I suggest choosing any option at least once.

For example:

If you’re using Radeon RX 7900 XTX, 9060 XT, or Nvidia RTX 4070, choose “Ultra”.

If you’re using a GT 1030 or Radeon Vega 11, choose the “Lowest” option.

If you’re using an Xbox Controller, go into “Gameplay Settings”, choose “Xbox Controller”, also you can also change the difficulty setting in here. By default, it is set to “Normal”.

(Note: On Linux, a .sh file might refuse to run. If that happens, open the console in that directory, and enter “chmod +x *” into the console, and if it still won’t boot due to dependency issue, install Wine through your distro’s package manager.)

The issues I’m aware of:

  • Performance issues. The game sometimes stutters at first-time weapon animation, enabling Ray-Tracing and/or setting Model Quality: Ultra, heavily handicaps performance.
  • Entering a new map makes “Special Attack Ready” noise.
  • Japanese Translation is incomplete. only Subtitles and Contextual Button Prompts.
  • No native build of VkDoom for Linux is included. But to substitute the issue, a shell command automatically launching the game through Wine is included (requires Wine’s installation through your distro’s package manager. Immutable Distros such as SteamOS, Bazzite, and Fedora Silverblue might run into issues running the game. Consider using Heroic Games Launcher to launch the game.)
  • For best compatibility, it’s shipping with the older version of VkDoom that was compiled on 2024/12/08, so you might run into some Engine-based issues. According to VkDoom’s Engine developer, there a compatibility issues with the Windows Radeon Driver with newer VkDoom builds. If you’re using a GeForce GPU on Windows, or using Radeon on Linux (Mesa/RADV driver), you could swap out to a newer VkDoom build, or run the game through an AUR build of VkDoom.

The features that have not been implemented yet. planned to be added or fixed at future update:

  • Cutscene skipping features (to substitute, the Map select feature will be included.)
  • Color blindness option.
  • Lack of “Cave Miner” VA’s Credit on Demo Ending.
  • First-time boot-up setup wizard
  • Button prompt for hugging, and other conversation at cave rest.
  • Support for PlayStation Controller button prompt.
